Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library
Since its inception , Sir Dorabji Tata Library at TISS has developed its reputation of being the progressive library system with its several capacity building activities. Library team has over 8 academic positions at various levels with four of them having PhDs. In order to utilise the resources to the maximum extent academic programmes included in its “Strategic Plan for 2007-12” and later “Centre for Library and Information Managemnt Studies”was established to offer the same.
Two curriculum development workshops involving national level experts and institutions were held in Aug 2008 and Oct 2008 which resulted in the development of PG Diploma and Masters in Library and Information Science.
Programmes are highly relevant in the present context of knowledge society as they are in sync with
Institute’s vision and mission: producing human service professionals in critical sectors like education.

Highly Qualified Faculty: Currently the Centre has 8 academic staff , among them 4 hold Phds.
Unique Curriculum: Because of the intense and elaborate cirriculum development processes, the masters and PG Diplomas are unique compared to other universities across india for their contemporary aproach.
Emphasis on Practice: Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library is the most progressive library system which has implemeted all modern ICT applications for a learning environment. This provides floor for our students to learn librarianship in actual real life settings of a modern library.
Institutional Support: PG Diploma, Masters and PhD programmes have received unstinted support from institute authorities since their launch in 2010.
Training and Development: Centre has been involved in training library and infoamtion professionals in the region for long. This has helped centre in design, development of programmes to meet specific needs.

is the Deputy Librarian, Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library, TISS. At present, he is on lien to NITK Suratkal.. He is the recipient of SIS-Razaida Memorial Young Information Scientist Award (2008). His areas of specialization are: Web Designing, Digital Library Applications, Web Authoring, Network Based Information Services, Scientometrics, etc. He has published 33 research papers in the conferences/seminars and national & international journals and has 4 edited books. Awarded USA-IVLP Fellowship 2007 and visited USA for one month 2007. He was also conferred with Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in 2013 and was in University of East London, London.
